Local Authority Machine

At Gum Clear we are proud to have developed and built the best clean and recycle machine in the world.

It may seem an empty boast but when you see this working it's quite amazing! Call now on 0800 652 9924 or send an email to arrange a demonstration.

The unit has been housed in a purpose built LWB Ford Transit self contained vehicle. The vehicle is fitted with two 11 litre burners in line compared to every other machine having one. This means that as the water is heated in the first boiler, rather than being pumped to the hub for use in the cleaning operation, it is pumped into the next boiler as already hot water to heat it even further.

Many manufacturers quote very impressive temperatures, but these are at the time that the water is at the pump, and by the time it has traveled to point of contact it's often less than half.

Our system allows steam to be pumped to the cleaning head and even at 45 metres away the temperature at point of contact is still 95 degrees!

At this heat, all chewing gum removal and cleaning of staining is normally able to be completed in one pass without the need for any chemicals.

The 750mm floor hub, which is our own unique design, has 6 jets angled to allow the gum to be softened and removed at the same time allowing massive time savings

It also ensures safe daytime cleaning as the hot water and debris is completely housed in the cleaning hub and no water is splashed onto buildings or more importantly, passing pedestrians.

This unique cleaning hub receives 22 litres per minute which is immediately vacuumed and the dirty water returned to the unit for recycling.

The vacuum is balanced to also receive 22 litres per minute and delivers the dirty water to the first filtering bin which removes all the large particles such as gum deposits, leaves and cigarette butts (in fact anything up to the size of a golf ball) and is deposited in the first separation tank.

It is then pumped into the 16 chamber recycling unit where it is further filtered and cleaned.

The water is fairly clean at this stage but it is then pumped into 3 separate in-line pressurised bag filter housings which filters this water down to 5 microns.

At this stage it is pumped back into the main water tank clean and can be reused.

This has 2 advantages.

Firstly, it means there are incredible water savings.

At 22 litres per minute a normal cleaning hub would lose 1320 litres per hour, but due to the recycling unit we lose less than 40 litres.

On a 6 hour shift this would mean rather than using almost 8000 litres of water the Gum Clear recycling unit uses less than 240 litres.

The second benefit is that once the water tank has been filled in the morning the operatives can continuously work without the need for refilling.

On a typical machine, it would take about an hour to fill, and in use this water would generally only last an hour, so we also allow at least twice as many metres to be cleaned in the shift, as well as the excellent environmental issues.

As there is no water splashing around we are also able to clean in daylight ensuring excellent PR opportunities, and as the water is vacuumed dry straight away it leaves the surface ready for an anti-gum coating to be applied at the same time

For tarmac areas there are also 2 dry steam units to allow chewing gum to be removed at low pressure so not to cause damage to the surface.

The units are also fitted with a silenced 3 Cylinder water cooled engine and a silenced vacuum unit to allow night works in residential areas if required as the decibel levels are less than 70db at 7m.

The reverse action of the recycling tank means that the end of shift cleaning is a simple, safe operation as the clean water remaining in the tank is then pumped through the recycling unit and is safely and legally let into the drainage system.

It also means that there are no health and safety issues for the operators having to handle the waste which as the street has been cleaned of not just gum, but many other unpleasant stains and deposits, will have been collected within the unit.

The unit is also fitted with CMS Supatrak which ensures that the unit will not start until the operator has placed their unique key fob onto the reader in the cab.

The vehicle is also fitted with a reversing camera which engages when reverse gear is selected

The investment in superior equipment and commitment to the high environmental standards makes Gum Clear the leading chewing gum removal company in the UK. Call Gum Clear now on 0800 652 9924 or send an email to arrange a demonstration.
